QUEEN MARY'S APPEAL

In reply to Her Excellency's cablo message annoiuicing the composition and dispatch of tiiie first consignment of contributions to Queen Mary's appeal, Hor Majesty has sent through the Secretary or State for the Colonies the following message:— ' "Her Majesty tho Queen Bends her sincere thanks for tho generous response to her appeal." Nurse Pnrcell has resigned her position as senior Plunket nurse, and intends to specialise in infant nursing in Wellington. A meeting of ladies was held in Martiuborough during the week, when it was decided to assist the Belgian R-elief Fund tp the extent of at least £25. A meeting of Featheretou ladies is also to be held on Tuesday to promote tlie same object.—(Featherston corresppndent.) The wedding took place in Holy Trinity Presbyterian Church. Timaru, on Wednesday of Miss Beryl Gyneth Hay, daughter of x Mrs. W. Ilay, of Timaru, to Mr. Percy Wright, son of Major and Mrs. Wrmht, also of Tiniaru. Miss Booth (Nelson) and her sister are visiting Wellington; Miss Bunny (Gladstone) is visiting Wellington. The engagement is announced of Miss Ivy May Walsh, oldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Walsh, of "Forest Lake," Hamilton, to Mr. A. M'Cheyne Murray, of Rotherwood, Frankton Junction, late of- Glenveigh, Waihoanga, youngest son of tiie lato Mr. and Mrs. John Murray, of Waituna, Feilding. - Airhair work executed by Miss Milsom receives her personal attention.
