A Wellington Wedding. A pretty wedding took place oil Wednesday last at tlie Webb Street Methodist -Church, when Miss Sadie. Houlder, daughter of Mr. and ill's. J, S. Houlder, was married to 'Mr. William Hennf Cummins, of Wellington. Tlio Rev. G. Kn~hvles Smith performed the ceremony, the church being decorated by the choir, of which both the brido and bridegroom are members. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a graceful frock of ivory crepe do chine, trimmed with shadow lace and' pearls, and carried a shower bouquet of white rosea, and maidenhair fern. She was attended by two bridesmaids. Miss Mary Houlder, sister of tho Dride, and Miss Alice Cummins, sister of the bridegroom, who wore embroidered dresses and carried posies of pink and white azaleas. Tho bridegroom was attended by Mr. J. 11. Dick as best man, and Mr. R. A'. Robertson as groomsman. As the wedding party left the church, the '"Wedding March" was played by Miss D Johnston. The leception was held in the W.O.T.U. Rooms, Constable Street, where the guests were received by Mrs. Houlder, who wore a grey yoile frock with grey hat and boa to match, and Mrs. Cummins, who wore a black costume with black and white hat and black plume. The usual toasts were honoured, some of the speakers being: The Rev. 6. Knowles Smith, Mr. Oscar Hewitt (who acted as M.C.), Mr. Peter Barr, of Dunedin, Mr. J. S. Houldor,' Dr. Platts-Mills, Mrs. J. L Wright, and Mrs. Perymaa. The bride and bridegroom left for the north, Mrs. Cummins travelling in a. tailored costume of navy' blue and white pinstriped cloth', with a pretty Tagel hat trimmed with silk flowers. Races at Trentham. ( Dull grey skjes and threats of rain that happily did not fulfil themselves were the weather signals for Saturday, but they did not prevent a great many people from attending the races at Trentham. Ot this time of the year it is too early to discard altogether the comforts of winter, and coats and skirts in dark colours, preferably navy blue, and in many cases furs, were the prevailing wear. Among thoso who were present were:—Miss Harcourt, who was wearing a light blue coat and skirt, and blue hat with an amethyst shaded rose; Mrs. Maurice Gillon was in a navy blue trimmed with ribbon of a deeper shade; Mrs. H. D. Bell, navy bl\ie coat and skirt, and black tagel hat, wreathed with tiny flowers; Mrs. Rolleston, grey corduroy velvet costume, and black yolvet hat; Miss Bell, blue coat and skirt, and black hat: Miss Eraser, navy bluo and small, light blue hat; Mrs. Johnston, grey striped costume and small black hat, with osprey plumes; Mrs. C. F. Vallance (Kahuminga), navy blue coat and skirt, black hat with a blue ostrich feather; Lady Ward, cream costunio and black feather hat; Mrs. V. Riddiford, ore ain coat and skirt, and *ose-coloured hat; Mrs. Bidwill, navy blue, ermine furs, and hat with- blue feathers; Mrs. Arthur Duncan, grey olieck costame and small bjaok hat with red roses; Mrs. George Hume (Featheiston), violot coat and skirt, and rosecoloured hat; Mrs. W. Johnston, molo coloured soft satin, with a black hat trimmed with blaok ,tulle; Mrs. H, Gore, grey, with a rose-coloured scarf and rose hat; Mrs. Millar, navy blue and small blaok hat; Mrs. Allen-Cam-eron (Oaetlepoint), grey, white feather boa, and large hat massed with white feathers; Mrs. Sladden, biscuit-coloured crepe, and large hat wreathed with roses; Miss Skerrett, navy blue and blue hat trimmed with' tiny roseß; Miss Booth (Nelson), navy blue' and a white hat ; Mrs. W. Turnbull, navy blue and small blue hat; Mrs. Algar Williams, navy blue, with fur coat,. and large black hat with roses; Miss Duncan, ■black, and small black hat; Miss Hislop, black crepe do chine frock, and white hat trimmed with ; blue; Miss Payton°(Masterton), stqne blue cpstume anil black hat; Mrs. Mandell,. prunecoloured costume and black feathered hi\t; Mrs. Pearce, niole coat and skirt, aud small molo velvot hat; Mrs. Buiok (Palmerston North), blaok satin, and black hat with touches of purple; Miss Buick, violet coat and skirt, and. hat to match; Miss Bunny (AMaruko), blue costume and blue velvet hat; Miss Elder, navy blue, and blue hat with flowers; Mrs. Kembor, navv blue costume and black hat; Miss Kembor, apple green frock and blacky hat; 'Airs. Biss, jiavy blue, blaok hat with ospreys; Mrs. Tweed, §rey, with a blue hat; Miaa Kirkcaldie, fawn-coloured crepe, and white hat with roses ; Miss D'Oyley, navy blue, and a white hat; Miss 0. Butts, browii coat and skirt, brown hat with, roses; Miss Clark, navy blue costume, small tagel hat with cherries; Mrs. Bateson, pale blue costume, aiid black hat; Mrs. Chilman, navy bluo and blue hat with feathers; Mrs. W. James, navy blue.and blaok feathered hat; Mrs. M'Kellar, navy blue coat and skirt, and white hat trimmed with rose-coloured ribbon; Mrs; A. E. W'hyte, blue coat andskirt, with a rose coloured collar and rovers and hlue hat: Mrs. Adams, black costume and black hat massed with white ostrich feathers. Miss Speed is spending the next sis br seven week? with her sister, Mrs. John Duncan, Marlborough, A cottage in Pirio Street has recently been acquired by the Wellington I'lunket Society, and on Saturday the purees entered into possession, and will in future live on tho premises, instead of being found at their former consulting rooms in Viviat) Street. The cottage is a six-roomed one, and has been very comfortably fitted and furnished for the nurses and thoir work, Mrs. C. F. Vallance (Kahumingi, Masterton) is visiting Wellington. The Wellington Ladies' Golf Club's monthly competition, which,was post-, poned owing to the New Zealand chain-' pipnship, will be played on Wednesday, October'2B, Tho wedding of Miss Elsia Commons, daughter r.f >Jr, and Mrs. Commons, of "Rarewa," Mountain Road, Epsom, Auckland, to Mr. Peroy Douglas Tennoiit, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Cowper Tennent, late of "Westward' Ho," Rangitikei, has been fixed -to take place iii Auckland on November 11. Many of our readers will regret to learn of tho death yesterday of Mrs. Brcmnqr, widow of tho late Mr. David Bremncr, and daughter of the late Dr. Featherston.
