' PROPOSAL REJECTED. A proposal to borrow £6000 for the purpose of providing necessary protective works for- the Hutt River was submitted to the ratepayers of the Hutt River Board district ypsterday. Very little interest was taken in the poll, however, only 323 ratepayers taking tho trouble to record their votes. The voting was:— Against For the tho pro- Tnproposal. posal. formal.
