CARTERTON NEWS.
In the Police Court on Friday, a .man named Maurico o'K.ano was charged with receiving a case of benzino, tho property of G. E. Allen, of Taratahi, knowing it to have been dishonestly obtained . Accused was remanded till Monday, October 19, to enablo the police to obtain a witness who is- out of the district. Bail was allowed in his own recognisance of £10. The iron memorial gates erected at the entrance to tho Wairarapa P. and A. Society's showgrounds to the memory of tho late Mr. G. W. Deller, for many years a steward and treasurer, have been completed, and are hung on large concrete posts. The Carterton Thursday Cricket Olub opened the season on Thursday afternoon on Carrington Park. At a meeting of the Foresters' Lodge on Wednesday evening, Bros. J. G. Mooro and E. V. Ellis wore appointed delegates on the Patriotic Sports Committee. Tho annual district meeting of tho Foresters' Order takes place in Wellington in December. Bro. H. H. Armstrong was appointed delegate to represent the Carterton Court.
