A, deputation of boot manufacturers waited on tho Finance Committee of tlip Patriotic Fund and urged that tho standard of boots submitted for supplies to the Expeditionary Forco was unsuitable; that in a month's use in active service some of the boots supplied to the soldiers would be worn off their, feet. They urged that a higher standard "be adopted in future. The Mayor, stated that their representations would receive consideration.- .
