COST OF THE FORCE
MINISTER'S ESTIMATE. In tile Houso of Representatives yesterday, Sir Joseph Ward askod tho Minister of Financo whether ho could toll tho House the cost of the Expeditionary Force to date. Tho Hon. J. Allen said that ho could give tho cost to date, but it would bo entirely misleading, because several accounts wero in process of being adjusted, and relegated to the various dopal tments, so that tho expenditure would appear to ho nothing liko what it really was. So far as ho could recollect, tho cost to date was übout £250,000.
