In all 78 frosts have been registered at Hastings during this year, as compared with 58 last year. - Mr. H; Newton, ifho has recently ieceived an appointment on the Napier Corporation clerical staff, has been presented with a gold watch by the members of his late employers (Bull Bros.).
PAHIATUA.
.The- little girl, Vera Yewon, who.was lost at Kakariki for two nights, and who was found after a vigorous search, is progressing favourably after her lengthy .exposure in the cold. .Inquiry at the; Pahiatua Hospital yesterday morning showed that Horace Falloon, the Jad who was dragged by a pony on the previous morning, was also making favourable progress. The boisterous winds which visited this district on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday have subsided. As far as can be ascertained, there has been no damage in this district by .the disagreeable weather. ' Mr. A. W. Sedcole has been reappointed custodian of the Pahiatua Borough Baths.
CREYTOWN.
The Boy Scouts made a net 6um of £16 15s. from the recent children's party. Mr. Haxton read out the bal-ance-sheet at parade on Wednesday night, and the expenses were only £4 Bs. The boys have been measured for their uniforms, and will wear them at church parade on October 18. Their chaplain (Rev. A. T. B. Page) will give, them a farewell address. He is leaving the district for Manaia at the end of the month.
