SPARK FROM A TRACTION ■ . ENGINE. ! Carterton, October 7. Fire destroyed the Morison Bush Public Hall last night. It is surmised that a spark from a traction engine started the fire, and the building was demolished in about an hour. Tho premium on the insurance on the building, piano, and furniture was overdue, and had lapsed. ■ BLAZE AT CAMBRIDGE. . Cambridge, October 7. ; A seyen-roomed dwellina in Alpha Street was destroyed by fire early this morning. It was occupied by F. Pearce, printer, and owned by 'Miss Taylor, of Invercargill. Insurances: On the furniture, £100 in the South British; on the building, £350 in.the Standard. : FIRE IN GRANT ROAD. The Fire Brigade received a call at about 9 o'clock last night to a twostoried ten-roomed house at 127 Grant Road, the outbreak, which was caused by the firing of some tree cuttings near the house, was extinguished before any serious damage was done to tho building. Only a couple of feet of one wall of the house was damaged. The occupant is Mr, Joseph W. Bull. A about 8.30 last evening a firo broke out in tho moulding department of the Government workshops at Petone, but was promptly extinguished bytho night watchman. A resident, giving tho alarm from the Ryan Street box, brought the local brigade upon tho scene, but their services were not required. . . '■
