"Paddy" Hannan, the Wellington anpirant for the professional sculling championship of New*' Zealand, writing from Matapuna (near Taumarunui) says that ho called into Wanganuj on his tray north, and had an interview with W. Webb and. his supporters. He was there informed that Webb was very busy boat-building at Aramoho, and would be,kopt hard at it until Christmas. As he would not be in n position'to commence, training until after the Christmas holidays, he was not inclined to race before April or May. Webb wanted the stake to bo £150 oi £200, and Hannan states that the arrangement to.postpone the race would give him time to look round for tbe additional backing required. '
