{From Our Own Correspondents.) . A "social" aiid dance was held at St. Augustine's Hall, Petone, last evening, -in aid of tho . Huntly Distress Fund. Upwards of 200 persons attended, and during tho evening several musical items were given. Messrs. Black and'Parfitt acted as M.C.'s, and tho music was supplied, by Miss.E. Pomfrey. The organising committee consisted' of Messrs, Parkhouse; Black, Nelson, and Dunlop, . the last-named gentleman acting as secretary. An enjoyable time was spent. A successful patriotic concert, given in aid of the St. John Ambulance Brigade by Miss Flora Shaw, was held at the Petono Lyceum last _ evening, the building being crowded to tho doors." The Wellington Pipe Band under PipoMajor Fraser rendered selections, and other contributors to tho programme were: Mesdames E. Montgomery and, M. Groome, the Misses ' ijlo'ra Shaw, Betty Purdom, E. O'Brien, and L. O'Leary, Messrs. A. H. Medhurst, J. Culford Bell, V. Rowc, and H. Maud, arid Masters Ben O'Brien, Rodney Pankhurst, and Colin Shaw. Mr. A. H. Medhurst was musical director, and the accompanist was Miss Jones, A.T.C.L.
