BOWLING.
OPENING OF THE SEASON. ■ Saturday next has been fixed upon by the Wellington, Thorudou, and Newtown Bowling Clubs for the opening of the season, and as these three are- the senior clubs of Wellington, Saturday will rank as the official opening of tho bowling season as far as Wellington is concerned. At oil three clubs tho opening ceremony will take place at ?. p.m.,.in order that the players may make the most of the sunshine. GOLF . THE AVAIWETU CLUB. In the monthly button and silver hall competition, 18 holes, against bogey under handicap, the winner was Mr. S. Crawford, who, with a handicap.of 15 bisques, returned a card of 2 up; Mr. Hobbs; with a handicap of 11 bisques, was the runner up,. with 2 down. ' A mixed foursome competition against bogey over 27 holes, under handicap, was also played this week-end, and was won by Miss Rothschild and A. Hobbs, with a return of all square with Ihe Colonel.
