CENTRAL CHAMBER OF COMMERCE
• INCREASED PRICE OF MEAT. A meeting of the council of the Wellington Central Chamber of Commerce was hold yesterday afternoon, tho president (Mr. C. M. Luke) being in the chair.; It was reported that in connection with tho Chamber's representations on tho matter of tho increased price of meat,, tho Premier had replied that this was one of tho matters ■ which would be inquired into by the Commission sot up under the Regulation of Trade and Commerce Act. The chair-man renorted that Mr. W. A. Beddoo, Canadian Trade Commissioner, had agreed to address members all tlie annual mooting on September 30, and that Major A. E, M. Norton, ■D.5.0., F.R.G.S., F.G.1., would probably dejiver an address to the- Chamber on October 15. A resolution re Oversea Trade and wax risks was forwarded by tho Wauganui Chamber of Commerce for fav-' ourablo consideration and support. Tho chairman expressed the opinion that the'.Government should take some steps in conjunction with the Homo Government in the direction of improving tho war insurance conditions.' It was decided to refer the Wangamii Chambers lotter to the Exporters' Committee for a reply to be drawn up. Messrs. F. Duncan, Herbert Price, Jas. M'Donald, Michael Bourke, and H. J. Reid were eleoted members of the Chamber.
