BERHAMPORE AFFAIRS
ANNUAL MEETING OF ELECTORS' ASSOCIATION. Berhampore district affairs were discussed at the annual general meeting of tho Municipal Electors' Association held in the Masonic Hall, Adolaido Road, last night. The president (Mr. P. C. AVatt) was in the chair. Tho annual report (adopted)- stated that during the year many important matters engaged the attention of tho committee, amongst these being the matter of an earlier delivery of letters in the district, tho advisability of acquiring a site for a new post office, tho erection of a slot telephone in Berhampore. A slot telephone was immediately granted and a money-order offico has been established. A site for a new offico has not yet been acquired, and this matter would require tho attention of the incoming committee. The Post-master-General, after making- inquiries, informed the committee that he could not see his way in the meantime to grant an earlier delivery. To euablo the request to be given effect to, another letter-carrier would require to be appointed, and the business was not sufficient to warrant this- The committee have taken a very active part in the matter of- the muuicipal golf links, which will be an established lact in the near future, .the City Council Having voted tho sum of £600 to the project. The committee have also been moving in the direction of having the present Plague Hospital building converted ,into a golf house. ' Some time ago the extra tram service to Duppa Street during, rush hours was withdrawn, to the great inconvenience of residents. The committee took the matter up, with tho result that the service was immediately reinstated. Tho statement of accounts showed a deficit, on the year of £2 16s. 6d. It was decided that a letter be sent to Dr. R. A.' Cameron thanking him for his elforte in the direction of securing a municipal golf course on the Town belt in Berhampore. It was also decided to write to Mr. A. Whitelaw for his efforts in tho same direction. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded Mr. James M'intosh for his work as lion, secretary of the association. Tho chairman and members expressed the opinion ' that the success Which had attended the efforts of tho association was mainly duo to Mr. M'lntosh's energy and tact. The incoming committee was recommended to endeavour to have improvements effected in Herald Street, Chilka St-reot, Stanley i Street, and Rintoul Street. Officers for the ensuing year wore elected as follow: — , President, Mr. P. C. Watt; vicepresidents, Messrs. A. Whitelaw, J. P. Shand, and M. Gladiiig; hon. secretary,Mr. W.
