Ho pas brought to New Zealand direct rom the school of Hythe, England, by he Government, to act as instructor o the Territorial Forces. Captain Walingford was six times the rifle cham>ion of the British Empire, twice revolver champion, and five times waa ;econd in the revolver championship. So represented Britain in two _ interlational rifle matches and was invariibly the highest individual scorer of ill nations." In addition to these great successes he was twice the winner of ;he Princ<} of Wales's £100 prize, one )f the biggest shooting trophies in the votH. Captain Wallingford never competed for the King's Prize as ho was ,a ' arofessional soldier, this debarring him irom the contest. Unfortunately for ihe Auckland district, Captain Wallingrord's. services have been accepted for the Expeditionary Force, and it will be impossible to replace him. He has been working strenuously for the past few. weeks, instructing the troops in musketry practice.—Auckland "Star."
