EXTINGUISHED LIGHTS THE CAUSE. By Telegraph.—Press Associatdon-OopyrleM (Rec. September 10/0.35 a.m.) Sydney, September 9. The French feteamer Pacifiqae, froni U<umea, has brought the creivs, numbering forty-two, of the British bar* quentine Titania ._ and the Russian barque Aland, which were wrecked on the coast of New Caledonia last month, The disasters were the result of tie authorities extinguishing the lighthouses on the coast owing, to the war. The Titania, while at Surprise Island, lost her topmast yard and was running for Tfoumea to repair when Bhe stranded on a coral reef in the darkness. The Aland struck the Neokumbi Reef while trying to make the harbour of Tehio ini the early morning.'. Both vessels were total wrecks, but all on board escaped.*
