FOOD PRICES
COMMISSION OF INQUIRY TO Bβ SET UP THIS WEEK. . The news that a. Commission of Inquiry into food prices is to bo set up during this week will be'"receiyed with satisfaction by the public, coming as >it docs after the hicrcese made iii tho price of meat. Provisioii was made for the setting up of such a Commission, and the'fixing oF maximum food prices, by the Regulation of Trade and Com r inerco Act which was passed after the decimation of war between England and Germany.
Tho statement that the Commission would be sot up during the week was made by the Prune Minister (the Right Hen. W. P. Masscy) in-reply, to "a question' by a Dominion reporter yesterday afternoon. Asked if he could give an indication of the personnel of the board, Mr. Massey said that he could not, as it had to come before Cabinet.
Mr. Massey also said that, as head of the Government, he had bought a •considerable-quantity of wheat in Au-s----tialia. It was only a precautiftnary measure, as' ho did not know that it would be required here. In the meantime he had taken steps to have it available. . •
