ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
A SUDDEN DEATH. ; A married woman named Alice M'CarUiy, a resident of 27 Holloway Street, 'died suddenly at. her residence at'about midday yetserday. Deceased Jiad been ailing for about six months past, baviiig bcfiii attended by Dr. .Tenuaut. Shortly \>eforo midday yesterday she stated her' intention # o£-doing a little, washing, ;ind on Koing into the kitchen she fell forward on her face, and died almost immediately. Dr. JJennctt was called in, but as Dr. Teunaut, who had previously attended 'her, was out. of town, a certificate as to the cause of death could not bo given. It is not probablo that an inquest will be necessary. THE CLYDE QUAY TRAGEDY, The condition of Mr. and Mrs. Mulliiis, the victims of tho Clyde Quay, tra.gedy, .was reported from the Hos-' pit'al last night to have shown no improvement-. Both arc conscious; ; ;'. BODY IDENTIFIED. The body, of the man found in theharbour near-the Clyde Quay baths on Friday last has been-identified as that of Joseph Barrett. Deceased is said to have a wife Hying in Auckland. He uaa several relatives living in the city. The inquest will probably take- place-to-day. ' ' ' ATTEMPTED SUICIDE. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) .Hastings, August 22. Charles Morton, a labourer, 40 years of age, recently from Oainaru, attempted to commit suicide last night by firing two bullets from a small revolver into his forehead. He was taken to the hospital, where his condition is serious.
