' MEETING IN AUCKLAND. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) Auckland, August 18. ' A meeting of the unemployed attended by about ttvo hundred—about equal numbers of idlo men and tlie idly curious —passed a resolution recommending the Government to immediately consider • proceeding with reproductive works to absorb tho increasing number of displaced workers; also suggesting tlio cultivation of Crown lands or an arrangement with farmers for tho wee of cultivated land for Stato purposes.
The Masterton Lodge of Oddfellows has decided to keep all brethren who may join the Expeditionary Force financial on the lodge, and to grant them lodge benefits during the whole time they are awa£,
