WATER AND DRAINAGE PROPOSALS
KARORI'EAST RATEPAYERS' I . PROTEST. A public meeting of Karori ratepayers affected by .'the proposed Karori East water and drainage-jproposals of the City Coun ; ,cil was held'in Mr. Russell's tea rooms, Karori; last night. • ' Mr.. J. W. Henderson ■ presided; and there was a fair attendance. After the chairman had explained the objects of tho meeting, those present settled down to a detailed criticism and .discussion of the proposals. Messrs.-J. M'Konzie, G. W. Ward, Birch, and H. E. Drjden wore tho principal.speakers. The speakers in the main considered that the City Counc/ should inorease the size of the drainage area to take in the whole of "Beautiful Karori," the object being that tho rate proposed to be struck might be 1 Teduced; It was considered that the rate-proposed to be struck was out of all question. The proposed scheme, it was also considered, was too elaborate for tho area to be served. On the motion of Mr. MTtenzie, seconded by Mr. Dryden, it was decided to submit the above suggestions to the City Council for its con-sidoration and report.
