New Zealand boys with the opportunity, of learning veterinary eur'gery was' discussed at the A. and P.' Societies' Conference yesterday; It was stated that it would'cost far too much to establish a ' veterinary college just yet, so it was moved: '|Tuat the, Board of Agriculture should be asked t» coneider the matter of offering Government scholarships, or otherwise helping Dominion lads attending Melbourne Vet-erinary-University."'. Dr. C; J. Reakes, of the Department of Agriculture, said that 'the. time would como when a • veterinary college would be warranted in New Zealand.' The matter had already been considered by the University of Otago. When-the-col-lego did come it should bo established in Duncdin, because thero was already a good medical school. there, and the two subjects could bo combined economically. When. New "Zealand, obtained a college it should be one whose diplomas would be recognised in any part of the world. Even the Melbourne College's diplomas were not. recognised in England, though the. barrier to recognition was only a technical point, • and .in time that would-be.overcomo. The motion was carried.
