Negotiations were certainly in progress. To use the -writer's words: "The League are desperate. . It is the be-, ginning of the end," he writes, "for there is a : decided revulsion of feeling in Sydney towards Union Rugby. An offer of £3000 was made to tlie 'AH Blacks' if they would play an Australian League team. The Leaguo have plenty of money at present, and stop , at nothing to get players.
