THE MOTOR BILL
PROTEST FROM TARAXAKI, . (By Telesranh.—Pro»it Association.) New Plymouth, July 23. At a meeting of Taranaki motorists to-night, the Motor Bill now before the House of Representatives was adversely criticised) and a resolution was ! passed protesting against the Bill as a-reac-tionary inequitable ' penalising: of ono class without; an adequate quid pro quo, and l ' expressing- the, opinion that:'the 1 proper time for a system of special motor taxation is when arterial roads are provided and maintained by the Government. Further resolutions protested against harsh, -unfair discrimination against private motorists- as against hirers and doctor, also agaiiist the heavy charges exacted, from motorists without granting exemption from;oppressive toll-gate charges. Copies of the resolutions are to be sent to the Minister asking that if the Bill is proceeded with the inequalities and injustices pointed out be. removed. ! ,
