CLAIM FOR £20,000 DAMAGES. (Pj Telezrarh.—Piosa Association.! Chrlstohuroh, • July 17. Li the action Booth and Co. v. Bowron Brothers, the defendants in tlio case,. Messrs. Boivron Brothers . have filed a coimterclaim for £20,000 damages, alloging that Messrs. Booth and 00., London, failed to safely keep tlio defendant's skins and to obtain trust receipts for skins which, in course of business, were handed to them by Booth and Co. for treatment. The defendants are therefore seeking to throw upon Messrs. Booth and Co. tho responsibility for tho losses ' arising from tho Phoenix Wharf frauds, in respect of which John Allen Brown, and J. L. Knight, wharf manager, were convicted on charges of conspiracy nt tho Central Criminal Court in London in July, 1911. Apparently these losses are tho samo as Messrs. Booth in their statement of claim allege defendants to be liable for.
