MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE MEET- ' ING. ' The weekly meeting of the Management Committee of the AVellmgton Rugby Union was. held' last night, Mr. AV. Perry presiding. There were also present: Messrs. D. Weir, A. E. Little, H. Buck, A. C. Kitto.'AV. Hornig, A. E.. Dawson, W. Hardham, and G. Howe. A letter was received from the Petene Borough Council in reply to the Rugby Union" s complaint in.regard to spectators trespassing on No. 2 ground at Petene'during intervals at matches, ana suggesting that if arrangements could bo made for the first spell of all matches' to terminate at the same time the difficulty would be obviated. '. The application of a Wednesday player (W. G. Nelson) to be transferred fromtke Butehers' Club to the Oriental Club was held over for further consideration'. ■ . •■"..;■•■ The Selwyn Junior Club wrote asking that the Petone Junior Club come in to town for their match with Selwyn in the second round. The matter was referred to the match committee for consideration. Mr. W. K. Tapliu wrote stating that owing to his-being-transferred to Palmorston North he would be unable to referee in further matches;in Wellington. The resignation was accepted with regret. :■ ' /The Wellington Baseball League intimated to the committee that Dr. Hales and Messrs. Willis and Webb had been appointed to meet delegates of the union in reference to the use of Athletic Park by the league. ; During the early part of.the season •tho .Hawke's Bay Union wrote tasking for'ft'match against Wellington at Na- ■ pier./ The local union replied stating that it;could.not see its way to accede to the request. A further letter was. received from the Hawke's Bay Union last night offering to pay the' expenses of the Wellington team from Palmerston to Napier and back, and suggesting . that the Wednesday between the Wel-lington-AVanganui and tho WellingtonOtago match would be a suitablo date to play the fixture. _ At the same timo the Hawke's Bay Union stated that a visit 'from the City representative team would give a great impetus to the game there, arid was looked forward to by'players and public alike. After considerable discussion it was decided to write to the Hawke's Bay Union for further particulars. . It .was decided to write to.the Taranaki Union entering a challenge for the Hanfurly Shield.' The match, to bo played on September 9. . On tho motion of Mr. Weir, it was decided, to call a meeting of acting referees for Monday night next at the. Y'.M.C.A.
