Playing at Orange, tho New Zealand Rugby footballors had a runaway victory against the Western Districts, the scoro beine 59 to 10. This is the largest , score ever put up by any New Zealand team in Australia, the previous best being 53 to nil against Northern Districts in 1903. The ground was very heavy, and rain fell in the afternoon. Tlio team ivas cordially welcomed on arrival. , • DISTURBING RUMOUR; (Rec. July 15, 0.15 a.m.) Sydney, July 14. It was rumoured that three members of the visiting New Zealand Rugby: Union team had expressed a desiro to play League football. The rumouj caused a flutter in amateur circles, and it was suggested toPthe manager of tho team to compel all members of the visiting team to sign 'a bond to play through tho tour as amateurs. RUMOUR INDIGNANTLY DENIED. ,(Rec. July 15, 9.30 p.m.) Sydney, July 15. The manager of the New Zealand team states that all the members indignantly deny the rumour that three of their number are likely to go over / to League football. ! Sir Ronald Munro-Forgucon, the Gov-ernor-General, and Sir Gorald Strick-. land, the' 1 State' Governor, have notified their intention of attending Saturday's Test match.
