Tlio Senate's rejection of the postal employees' demands for improved working conditions resulted in a sudden revolt at the Central Post Office. Two thousand postmen barricaded tho builindßs, utilising the mail-bags and postal vans. Tlioy refused to Hlow tho mails to be dispatched. .Five hundred pohco cleared tho but were unable to gain admission to tho building. Tho Minister of Commerce harangued the men from the street, but tho postmen shrieked down his speech. A hundred thousand letters for Great Britain! America, and elsewhere hate been held up.
