TERRITORIAL CONFERENCE
OPENED BY THE GOVERNOR
The conference of senior Territorial officers, with officers of the Headquarters Staff was opened by His Excelloncy the Governor (Lord Liverpool) at ; tho, Garrison Officers' Club Yesterday. ,The - Minister of Defence, (the Hon. James Allen) was present at the open- •: ing.Mnjor-Gcneral Sir Alexander God,lcy presided, and -fifty-five senior Territorial officers from both Islands Avere in attendance,.- ,• . In declaring the conference open, His Excellency 6aid that lie had been very much shocked to learn of the death of Lieutenant-Colonel W. It. BlooroMd, . officer commanding-the Third (Auckland) Mounted Rifles, through the Empress of Ireland' disaster.
