INJUNCTION SOUGHT
GOVERNMENT HOUSE, SYDNEY TREES NOT TO BE CUT DOWN By Telegraph-Press Association-Copyrieht London, June 17. An application was made to tho Privy Council tor an injunction iu connection with Govornmont House, Sydney. , Mr. Lawrence, K.C., for appellant, said serious work was proceeding in the Government House grounds, .notwithstanding the fact that an' appeal was pending, Sir Robert "Finlay, K.C., for the New South Wales Government, said the city improving scheme necessitated the removal of forty unsightly fig trees. He was sure tho Government would not do anything to prejudice the case. Lord -Haldanc (Lord Chancellor): "Don't you think you can await their Lordships' decision in the appeal, tho subject matter in tho meantime to bo left intact? We think all proceedings ought to be stayed, and that appellant should have liberty to apply for an injunction to a local Court. We'will not grant an injunction, but be sure you do not cut down any more trees until you refer the matter to us."
Sir Robert Finlay agreed to cahlo Lord Haldane's observations to tho Government of New South Wales.
