Mr. Arthur Morton Grenlield lately withdrew from tho directorate, as ho was concerned iu Canadian speculation in May. Mr. Arthur Grcnfield, as a director of many Canadian companies, forms a capital of £350,000. His current deposit account with tho company is about 1} millions. It is understood that he is solvent, but requires time. On May 13 last a cablcfrram from London stated':—The Stock Exchange, during tho past week, has passed through a critical time, owinj to an operator in a huge speculative movement affecting five millions sterling in Canadian stocks, getting beyond his depth Six leading firms came to the rescue, and averted a financial, crisis.
