JOKER APOLOGISES
THE "MACE INCIDENT" IN FEDERAL PARLIAMENT. By Telegraph—Press Association— n opyrifflit (Rec. May 28, 10.20 p.m.) Melbourne, May 28. Mr. W. G. Higgs, Labour member for Capricorn (Queensland), in the Federal House, has admitted that he hid the Mace. He apologised to tlie House, and the apology has been accepted. Mr. Cook (the Prime Minister) has proposed a Committee, of Inquiry to investigate tho removal of the Speaker's notes, which so far have not been returned.
