EXETER TRAIN DISASTER
DRIVER AND FIREMAN DISMISSED. 8y Telegraph—Press Association—Copyricht (Rec. May 20, 0.40 a.m.) Sydney, May 28. Irwin, the driver, and .Terrett, tho fireman, of tho Terhora mail train disaster, havo been discharged from the railway service. Irwin states that he was not guilty of any carelessness or neglect cf duty, rio told the truth regarding signals, and did not expect dismissal. The Temora mail train, when nearing Exetor Railway Station (New South Wales), overran the signals during a ilense fofr, and crashed into a goods train. Tho- cars were telescoped, and fourteen peoplo wero billed and 20 injured. The iury , . at the inquest found that the accident was caused by the driver overrunning the signal when it was at danger, and Irwin was committed for trial on a charge of manslaughter, but ncqnitted after the trial, the verdict of "Not guilty" being cheered in Court.
