The trial of Peter Irwin, driver of the train which was concerned in tho railway smash near Exeter Station, in Now South Wales,.on a charge of feloniously slaying Bray, one of tho victims, has been concluded.

. The accused gaye evidence on his own behalf. Ho said the distant signal showed full a green light. He;was unable to see the home signal until within a few yards of it, owing to a dense fog. He then applied the brakes hard, but the train skidded on the slippery rails. If it had not skidded he could have pulled it up in time. The jury returned a verdict of not guilty.

The crowd in tho Court cheered enthusiastically.
