Regarding a case of alleged cruelty to fowls and ducks on tho wharf, abonfc which the society had written to the, Harbour Board, a reply was received j from tho latter body stating that tfm Harbour Board's, employees bad full instructions that live , stek vsis on no α-eesount to bo allowed-to remain in the sheds withoat ; water. , In, tho ease pointed out, tho letter stated that the coops of fowls and ducks had evidently not been handed ■■ over to possession of tho board. • . ■It was decided to Vrrite- to ons ot tho slrippi'nj; companies' ■ regarding a. matter mentioned by Inspector Seed. A crate of fowls, uiwoyidcd with water had been observed, llio mate of tho steamer had informed tltc inspector that .no drink had been given tho fowls duririg tho voyage. Inspector Seed also reported on three cases of decrepit horses ■ which ho bad ■I cither had destroyed or put <sn lighter work. , ■ .
