The "Times's" military correspondent, discussing the Radical and Labour domand for a democratised Army, says that this argues better pay for the officers. ' At present, infantry officers must poseess a private income of £150 a year, and cavalry officers £500 -a year. To enable poor soldiers to take commissions would mean an additional cost of li millions to beep up tho Home Army.
