Friday night's deluge caused many thousands of pounds worth of damage, and one death. The rainfall was the fiercest for thirty-six years—7o points fell in 4J minutes—and the streets, were .turned into rushing torrents. Tho water invaded shops and houses. : Thirty trams wero derailed in' dif-. ferent parts of the city and suburbs. An ancient aboriginal burying-ground at Manley was unearthed, and bones and skulls exposed.
- A man named Knight was driving home from Parramatt'i when the storm water washed his horse into a creek. Knight was drowned.
Steady rain has been almost continuous sinco the storm.
