CITY ENGINEER TO REPORT.
/It was formerly; reported.to the Wellington City Council last' night that the Tramways. .Committee- had been waited upon by a ; deputation from the HaMitai Ratepayers' Association, who urged the' construction of a traffic tunnel through Mount Victoria. The committee recommended to tho.,council that.tho' City Engineer should be instructed to submit. A report and .ostimate of cost at the earliest'date available. ' . ', Councillor Fletcher asked: Is ft necessary to put tho engineer to this'trouble when ho has already made,ono report? The Mayor': Tue engineer desires'to do 50'.":,'..'.., "."■.':". .~; . '.-■;' Councillor.Fletcher: Ho hag' already made a very valuable report on the' same subject. . . . "Mv idea was to save/ him unnecessary trouble. . Tho Mayor/said that the engineer was strongly of the oninioh thut it was highly desirable that, he should' again go thoroughly into the position. Tho recommendation was. adopted.
