Professor Cardston, who, is training the dancers for tho Petoii.c Band Carnival, was tendered a daiice last evening by his pupils as a mark of appreciation of his work. During the evening a presentation of a suit case was also made by Mr. Burridge, who referred to the esteem in which Professor Cardston «a.s hold by tlwse taking part in the dances. He (the speaker) hoped that at some future dute, he would revisit Petone. Tho P.uone Palace Theatre was crowded last- evening, tho occasion being a benefit performance which was tendered hv citizens to a distressed family. A capital musical programme Was given. At a meeting of tho Petone No. 2 Building Society last evening Mr. W. Burd was Successful in the appropriatian of the loan by ballot, drawing £300.
