(Bj TeleiraDh.—Pfosa Assoirfa.tloa.l Auckland,"February 10. i .The chairman of the Auckland Harbour Board, at its meeting.held to-day, moved that'the Union Steam Ship Company bo requested to reconsider the suspension of the Auckland-Tongan service. This matter , vitally affected the' trade of the port. Recently, the board's bylaws were amended, in order to enconr- ' agd the Island transhipment trade, which it was found was being diverted to Sydney. , _ ' V ■ The suspension of the service, he said, would ruin the trade entirely, and would, liot only prejudice the import trade, but would also prejudice the valuable export trade which had been carried on between Auckland and Tonga. The motion was carried unanimously.
