MOTOR TRAFFIC

CONTROL BY CITY COUNCIL. The By-Laws Committee of the .City Council submitted the following report to the council last night regarding the control of motor traffic by local authorities: —"The committee have to report that they have .given consideration to the question of the. observance of the motor-car regulations, lis requested by tho Hi:tt Borough Council, and they have to recomcnd as follows:— "(1) That the police he asked to proseoitie all using motor-cars and motor-cycles without a- registered number.' ■ 1 "(2) That the council bring the matter before the Municipal Conference, with a view of getting tho necessary legislation to deal with the motor traffic generally. "(3) That the City Engineer prepare a report for the Municipal Conference on the question of motor regulation* "(4) That tho llutt Borough Council be written to advising them that tho Wellington Cit'j! Council is doing all that is' possible, at the present time to deal with the traffic with the- existing law,'and they are submitting the matter to the Municipal Conference for coftsidoration." The report was adopted.
