(By Telegraph.—Special Correspondent.) AuoMand, January 28. - A plucky rescue from - drowning took place at Birkenhead on Thursday afternoon last. The attention of Captain T. Stevens, of the scow Kapui (which was discharging timber alongside the wharf) was drawn to a startled' look or the face of a boy who was peering dowr at the'water, and'a moment later n cap was seen to float to the surface, followed by a'■ boy. This is the. third timo that Captain Stevens has been tho means of saving life in Auckland Harbour.
