Owing to rheumatic trouble, J. H. Prosser has been compelled to relinquish his duties for some tune, and he leaves to-morrow night for a month at Botnrua. Trior to the start for the hurdle race on the second day at the Foxton meetinn; it was discovered thai at least three of tho jumps at the back of the course had been lowered. The hurdle's were put- back to the right height., and tho action taken by _ someone will form the subject of investigation by the stewards who opened an inquiry into the matter , on the course. A yearling by Devonshire from Happy Valley, purchased by Mr. H. .R. Gaisfortl, of Oringi, is to join the remainder of that gentleman's team at Torirua, The Wairarapa horse Sir-Solo is being kept in steady work .it Opaki in view of his Wanganui Cup engagement. It is riot generally known that the first-Auckland Cup, run on tho F/llerslie course some fifty years ago, was won by the late Mr. W. Dorset with a horse called Volunteer. The owner of Sir Solo, Mr. F. Dorset, is a nephew of the owner of'the first Auckland Cup winner, making a rather interesting coincidence. Sinapis, who has shown 6uch excellent form this season, will probably be sent over to Australia, next autumn, her mission'being some of tho long distance races. Being such a fine stayer, the St. Ambrose mare should add to licr laurels on Commonwealth courses. It is reported that the three-year-old Counsel, by Yasco—Silkgown. has been purchased fro.ii ill*. 0. D. Greenwood by tlio .Riroarton trainer, K. Emerson, aitd lie will probably bo sent to Australia.
