A Huntly correspondent telegraphs that a mass meeting of strikers wns held this morning, Mi , . W. Wood presiding over a very large attendance. During tho early stages of "the meeting those who had joined the new union wero asked to leave tho hull, w'herenpon a mim» her of'.men did eo. The Question of rcsuining work was then discussed. Many held the opinion that the strike was broken, ai'.d that the best thing to do was to go back to work. A more- militant section, however, considered they should fight on. Wiser counsels prevailed, and a largo majority voted in favour of declaring the strike off and letting each man take his chance of gaining «m> ploymeiit.
Tho meeting ended at Viooii, and atfivo minutes past 12 fully 300 men were lined up in a long queue outside the company's office, waiting their turn to apply to tho manager for work. All those who aro reinstated, however", must join the new union before being allowed to make a start, and as each man musk mako personal application ami be balloted for, tho process will take somo time.'
Nearly 100 men anpliccl for enrolment in the now union last niclit, and the majority of those wore elected. Twentytwo men started this morning...:\nd by tho end of the week, after thirteen weeks' idleness, both mines should bo going in full swing again.
