WORKERS ON THE WHARF.

THE NEW AND THE OLD HANDS. The chairman of the Wellington Harbour Board (Mr. B. Flirtchcr) lias supplied figures for tho period December 18 to January 10, with tho purpose of showing that tho board has adhered to tho terms o fthe resolution adopted at a meeting on December 17. The test of the resolution, which was conveyed by tho chairman's instructions to tho wharfinger and the labour foreman on December 18, was as follows:—"All casual wharf labourers who have joined the new Arbitration Union on or before December 8, 1913, and who have worked for the board,'shall continue to be offered preference of employment after the strike is over, if, in the opinion of tho wharfinger and labour foreman, they arc satisfactory workers and of good character. All additional wharf labourers put on frn fhthis date must produce evidence, that they arc members of the Arbitration union -arid of good eharacter." . ■;. , ■ ..
