"' Tiie demand for milkers has now gono off, reports the Wanganui Government Labour Bureau, but there is a keen demand for harvesters in the country districts. Although there are a few men about Wanganui, thero doo3 not seem to he many out of' employment, and thero are very few callers at the office. A number of new arrivals have called, but they do not seem to find much difficulty in. obtaining employment. Tho oat crops in the Masterton dis-. trict aro reported to be cutting well, though many of them aro rather badly affected, with rust and smut. It is anticipated that'the wool clip in the Masterton district this season will be the heaviest ou record. Tho wool is said to be very clean, and particularly free from hutowai. The latter weed ha 3 not proved such a pest as usual, farmers attributing this to tho fact that the wot weather prevented the burrs from ripening early. Tho experimental crops which were sown by Masterton farmers are turning out well—particularly the oats, wheat, and maize. About fifty experiments are being conducted in the Masterton district. .., ,^,„- A. very good performance with , tho blade shears is reported from a station in tho Fairlio district. The tally for one day was 109.'but tho excellence of the performance lies in the fact that the shearer was-on his first venture. Ho learned shearing at tho technical classes held at Smithlield in October, and had never been on tho boards previously. This is said to be something of a record for a novice with the shears. Every ehee3o factory manager aims to make as good a quality cheese as possible, also to see a big profit balance on tho books. The ■ "Victor" Tats help you to achieve both of these highly desirable objects. The "Victor" with its sloping bottomland centre drainage is the best assistant a cheesemaker could have. Moreover, tho "Victor" is so soundly constructed that it outlasts many inferior makes. Best tools always mean more profits—fit the best, the "Victor." Full particulars Albert J.
