They shot down their officers and declared for independence in tho name of oun Yat Sen. The rebels terrorised the district, and many woro_ killed and wounded, including a professor and several students, out foreigners were protected. A fortnight later tho Royalists recaptured Talifu, and burnt tho rebel leader.
