GIRL'S STRANGE CAREER.
DISCLOSED IN COURT. (By Tclcjraph.—Prsas Association.! Hamilton, December 19. 'A chjirgo of theft against a married woman named Annio Eearnley, at the Hamilton Police Court, brought to light flomo remarkablo facts. Tho woman, ■who is only 19, ran away from her homo in Taihapo shortly after entering her 'teens, and, to avoid arrest and'a return to a step-parent, she disguised herself as a bov, and went about the country earning !ier living at masculine occupations. One da,y she met Fearnloy, whom she knew previously, and who was considerably her senior, and the two throw in lots and wont about as mates, taking up drainage and other work together. They held fencing, drainage, and well-sinking contracts round Hamilton two years ago, their employers describing both as excellent workers. At Hastings, about twelve months a£o, the woman was discharged for vagrancy on Fearnlev promising to marry her. Tho couple returned to Hamilton a few months ago, when tho woman took occupation as a domestic at the houso ivhere the theft took place. She was convicted and ordered to como up for sentence when called upon. The husband, who appeared on a cliargo of receiving stolen goods, was acquitted.
