A NEW MAGISTRATE.
MR. p. G. A. COOPER APPOINTED
Mr. W. G. Riddoll, S.M., has boon appointed senior magistrate at Wellington, in succession to tho Into Dr. M'Arthur, and Mr. D. G. A. Cooper, Registrar of the Supremo Court at Wellington, has been appointed second magistrate at Wellington, in succession to Mr. Riddoll. Mr. Itiddell was first appointed a magistrate at Invorcargill m 190-1. Throo years later lie was transferred to Wellington tis second magistrate, and lie has served hero in that capacity ever since. ' Mr. Cooper began his career as secretary to the Chief Justico in 1879. In 18S2 he beoamo Deputy Registrar of the Supreme Court at Wellington. In 1889 ho was promoted to the' oflico' of tho Registrar of tho Supremo Court and Court of _ Appeal, and soon afterwards was appointed Sheriff. Mr. Cooper has continued iu theso officcs up to tho present date. Ho is. a qualified barrister i»nd solicitor.
