FLOATING BODY.
SIGHTED OFF SINCLAIR HEAD. What appeared to bo tho dead body of a man was seen (looting in tho water off Sinclair Head when tho auxiliary, scow Echo passed thero on Thursday last. The Echo arrived hero from Karamea on 'Ihursday night, and she is now discharging timber at tlio Clyde Quay Wharf. Yesterday Captain Vendore" reported to Constable M'Kelve.v that' when tiie scow was south-west of Sinclair Head on Thursday, and about a niilo from the shore, the body was Been bv tho cook (William Dobson). Thero was no chance of picking up the body, as a heavy gale was blowing at the "time, and the sea was very rough. Had tlio Echo attempted to put about, the sails would in all probability have been blown from tho ship. Tlio' body could not liavo been tliat of ■Victor King, wlio was'drowned on Saturday "last. The police liave ascertained tliat'tho latter was wearing yellow oilskins when drowned, whereas the body seen off Sinclair Head was clothed in a' long black .oilskin, . tied rourid the waist with; a rppe,iahd4hej;e,was. a dark slouch hat on the head. Captain Veildore's report states that tlie body appeared to bo. that' of a man between 13 and 14 stone.
