MATRIMONIAL DUPES.
EXTRAORDINARY REVELATIONS. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright (Rec. December 18, 8.40 p.m.) Now York, December 18. Extraordinary revelations have been heard at Indianapolis as tho result of the prosecution of a man named Martis Farris, his wife, and two da'.-gfitcrs, accused of using the" mails to defraud, by operating a matrimonial bureau. They pleaded guilty. It was admitted that one of tho daughters, Louise, wrote letters to men who wished to marry. Her father then warned away prospective bridegrooms. On one occasion five men arrived at tho "fianceo's" homo simultaneously. Fifty men were, all at tho same time, engaged to be married to Louise, who succeeded in getting largo sums in ge l, diamonds, and bracelets from her wouldbo wooers.
Ono of the "victims" is stated to bo ii well-known pugilist. Whenever, gifts arrived at the Harris's home there was a general scramble, and whichever member of tho household succeeded in grabbing the. package, kept tho contents.
The recital of tliosv incidents kept tho Court in a state of laughter throughout tho hearing.
