CONGESTION AT DUNEDIN.
REMOVING AVHAHP BADIUGRS. (By Telcerapli— Association.) Dunsnin, December 9. Work is proceeding rapidly at tho wharves, and there is a good deal of congestion. The strength of tlio new Watersido Workers' Union is now about 200, and gangs to-day woro distributed as_ under: 08 at the Kaiapoi, 21 at the Wanaka, 70 at tlio Homo boats, ]3 at the. John, 13 at tlio Storm, and 10 at the Moornki. This afternoon tlio Kaiapoi was shifted to tho Birch Street Wharf to load about 1800 tons of northern cargo, including 1600 crates of cheese for transhipment to the Henntera at Wellington." Tlio ship is oxpectcd to sail on Thursday for Oamaru, 'J'iniarii, and Wellington. Tho Dorsot is cxpcctcd to sail for Sydney on Thursday and her piaco will l)o taken by the Sturnifels, which has nearly 1000 tons of cargo for this port. Tlio next coastal arrival expected is tlio Kittawa, which loft Wellington at, noon with 600 tons. She will he followed by tho Puknki from Auckland, and tlio I'ohertta from Wellington. In order to givo freer access to tho wharves, tho authorities decided to-day on tho removal of the galvanised iron harriers at tho end of tho Victoria Wharf and botwon the Jlarepa a.nd Dorset, and also on the demolition of portion of tho wiro barrier at tho Cross Wharf.
